(Baonghean.vn) - Owing to adoption of advanced technologies, Mr. Nguyen Hung Son’s family’s 22 dairy cows (Hamlet 3, Nghia Hop commune, Tan Ky district) achieved high milk concentration ratio and brought him an annual income of nearly 1 billion dong.
Capturing the market’s demand, in 2014, Mr. Son implemented a pilot program of dairy cows farming with good breeds being selected. After several months of rearing, those 4 cows were ready to milk.
Realizing the potential economic efficiency of this dairy farming, Mr. Son continued buying 4 female cows that were mainly breeds from Australia, USA and New Zealand. Currently, there have been 14 calves to be born, increasing the entire number of the cows to 22 individuals.
The stable output for cow milk enabled Mr. Son’s family to go on investing in more modern equipment used in cattle farming such as milking machines, cow house cooling system, music system for stimulating cows to produce more milk, etc. which help the cows reach high milk concentration.
He shared: “Among our 22 cows, there are 8 ones being in their lactation period. Every day we milk twice in the morning and afternoon, and harvest 25-30 kg of milk per cow averagely. Particularly, some individuals even can produce 40-50 kg per cow a day. In summer, the hot weather may cause the production to reduce. We sell all to Vinamilk, about 200 kg a day with price from 14,000 dong/kg and earn the monthly income of 60 – 80 million dongs.
Dairy farming brought considerable economic efficiency to Ms. Son’s family. After deducting costs, the profit was nearly 1 billion dongs per year. At the moment, he was planning to move the stables to the fields, expanding the farm scale to 50 cows. On the other hand, Mr. Son formed a team whose mission is to collect wastes in order to protect the ecological environment around the farming area.
Mr. Son is also a founding member of Nghia Hop commune’s new-style dairy cow farming Cooperative. Presently, the Cooperative consists of 11 members who have been running good business with 150 dairy cows in total.
