(Baonghean) - In the morning of May 29, Vinh city seemed to be more crowded and bustling than usual. Along Quang Trung Street, it was easy to catch sight of foreigners wandering comfortably, looking at the busy roads of a dynamic and gradually transforming urban area in the early morning. They were the ambassadors, officers and the spouses of the delegates attending the program “Meeting between the diplomatic corps and provinces in the North central region of Viet Nam” to be held in Vinh city from May 28 till May 30.
At 7.30 am, in the lobby of Muong Thanh - Song Lam Hotel, all of the international guests arrived to participate in the opening ceremony of the program. A lot of guests showed their interest in the traditional Ao dai and conical hats of Viet Nam. Mrs. Dinh Thi Le Thanh, Deputy Chairwoman of Provincial People’s Committee of Nghe An whole-heartedly guided the international guests how to wear those hats and how to tighten the ties. The differences in races and languages appeared to give way for the open and friendly atmosphere.
The program was co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nghe An, with the attendance of 33 foreign representative offices along with 1 international organization and representatives from authorities of the Ministry and the North central provinces. After the successful programs concerning meeting with the diplomatic corps which had been held in Mekong River Delta (in 2012), South Central Coast (in 2013) and Northwest (2014), this year’s program was considered the occasion for the provinces in the North central region to directly work with the diplomats representing countries and territorial regions and international organizations in Viet Nam to introduce and advertise their images, potentials as well as strengths regarding investment attraction.
With 4 sessions discussing the themes including regional economies; high-tech agriculture; coastal economy and cultural value preservation; the program received opinions and experience of the speakers from foreign representative offices, international organizations and leaders of the provinces. Those were the precious lessons of countries which were experienced and well-known in many discussed fields and areas like Holland with the agriculture being well connected with its tourism; Israel with scientific-technological achievements having conducted the industrial revolution in agriculture; Russia with broad territory having established the network linking pivotal and focused development among its regions; etc.
Against the backdrop of the strong industrial revolution and modernization in which Nghe An was integrating, preserving and developing cultural values and traditions were given first priorities. It was also the message and desire that international delegates sent to Nghe An’s leaders and people when they expressed their admiration towards the plentiful natural resources and thick culture of the revolutionary land. Mrs. Katherine Muller-Marin, Head of UNESCO Office in Viet Nam did not forget to recall the recognition of Vi-Giam Folk Singing as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity at the end of 2014: “We are interested in preserving the cultural values because it is the matter of a culture, a community’s identity. With Vi-Giam Folk Singing, you have a very unique characteristic that cannot be mistaken for any other places. Keep that characteristic by turning it into a harmonizing color array in the modern context painting. With the material of Vi-Giam melody, you can absolutely compose new lyrics to make Vi-Giam bear the breath of the present and must convey it to the young generations of today and tomorrow”.
To exploit and promote effectively the characteristics of local areas were the message that Mr. Le Phuoc Vu, the Chairman of the Board of Hoa Sen Group sent to the program Meeting between Nghe An and the diplomatic corps, which was hosted by Nghe An within the framework of the overall program. Being a leading corporation in Viet Nam and having reputation in production of steel sheet at the regional level, Hoa Sen Group built a new plant in our province – namely Hoa Sen steel sheet plant in Nghe An, starting construction last October and beginning operating recently – which showed that a prospective future was widely open to the external relations and investment promotion of Nghe An. The representative of the group said: “We have to confirm that Nghe An has a lot of potentials for development, with a favorable geographical location, improved and synchronized network of transportation infrastructure and plentiful labor force. Through this program, we recommend that the leaders of Nghe An fully exploit its available potentials. Nothing is more sustainable than developing on the basis of what we own and thoroughly understand”.
The open and friendly event took place successfully. It was the occasion for the provinces, diplomatic agencies and businesses to have direct exchanges. All of them aimed at the objectives of mutual development, bringing advantages to all parties as well as contributing to the common benefits.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong, Vice Secretary of Provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee confirmed with pleasure: “Nghe An commits to continue our efforts to improve the investment and business climate, receive, manage and use the investment in an effective way to show that Nghe An is an attractive, reliable and efficient destination for the investors and sponsors”.
