(Baonghean.vn) - On May 17th evening, at Sen Village Stadium (Kim Lien, Nam Dan), Nghe An People’s Committee organized the opening ceremony of Sen Village Festival 2016, celebrating President Ho Chi Minh’s 126th birthday (19/5/1890 – 19/5/2016).
The opening ceremony attracted the attendance of Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh – Member of Party Central Committee, Secretary of Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Thai Thanh Quy – Alternate Member of Party Central Committee, Party Secretary of Nam Dan district; commissioners of Provincial Standing Committee: Mr. Le Minh Thong – Vice President of Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Thong – Head of Provincial Internal Affairs Committee; Mr. Ho Phuc Hop – Head of Provincial Committee of Propaganda and Education; leaders from provincial departments, committees, offices; Nam Dan district Commissioners and People’s Committee; representatives from Nguyen Sinh and Hoang Xuan parentages and a large number of local people.

Before the ceremony, the leader team from the province, departments, committees and offices had processed incense and flowers offering to honor President Ho Chi Minh at Kim Lien relic site, following by the procession carrying Uncle Ho’s photo from the site to Sen Village Stadium.
Sen Village Festival, formerly known as “Sen Village Singing Festival” which was firstly held in May 1982 and upgraded into Sen Village Festival later on. The Festival is organized every year in provincial level and every five years in national level.
This year, Sen Village Festival took place in provincial level, with the main theme “Honoring President Ho Chi Minh, Honoring Sen Village’s culture; Complimenting Party and Nghe An hometown on its integration and development”.
On his opening speech, Mr. Le Minh Thong – Commissioner of Provincial Standing Committee, Vice President of Provincial People’s Committee emphasized: Sen Village Festival was the occasion to express our unlimited gratefulness to and honor the precious ideological values of the late President.
Sen Village Festival 2016 was even taken into a greater signification, as it was organized at the time of, at all corners of the whole country, the eager preparations for election of deputies to the 4th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels.
For Nghe An residents, this is also time to enhance awareness of their own responsibilities toward their hometown, thence strengthen the solidarity and unification amongst Party and people, transforming the emotions and pride from every single civil into specific and practical revolutionary actions, contributing to the development of the whole province.
Sen Village Festival 2016 will take place within 4 days from 16/5 – 19/5/2016 with a wide range of events such as: volleyball tournament, youth camping, photo exhibitions on the themes Party and Uncle Ho, Sen Village beauty contest, etc. The closing ceremony was scheduled on May 19th evening.
