(Baonghean.vn) - Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee and President of Provincial People’s Committee chaired the regular meeting of May of the Provincial People’s Committee of Nghe An on May 25. The meeting saw the attendance of leaders of provincial departments and industries.

In the meeting, the representatives discussed Draft Resolution of Provincial People’s Council concerning 5th renaming of some streets in Vinh City; Draft Direction of Provincial Standing Committee about enhancing solutions to develop tourism in the province in the period 2016-2020; Draft scheme of holding Sunflower Festival in Nghia Dan District presented by Provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism.
Provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism was assigned to prepare the Scheme of holding Sunflower Festival by the Provincial People’s Committee since the sunflower fields in Nghia Dan appeal to thousands of domestic and foreign tourists every year on the occasion of flower blooming and create an original tourism attraction of Nghe An.
This Sunflower Festival is an essential step to boost tourism in the West Nghe An, thereby luring investors, promoting dairy products of TH Group and creating new tourism products for tourists. The Sunflower Festival is scheduled to be organized from December 25th 2016 to January 5th 2017.
According to the scheme, the Festival in district level would consist of numerous activities: beauty contest, souvenir exhibition, folk games, etc.
In 2015, tourism in the whole province reached 3.67 million of visits with tourism service revenue of 2,620 billion dong and total revenue from tourism of 4,000 billion dong, which shown an averagely annual increase of 21.2%. The province set a target of annually achieving at least 5,5 million of visits and 5,000 billion dong of tourism revenue by 2020.
After listening to opinions from the representatives, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee and President of Provincial People’s Committee, generally agreed with the Draft Scheme of the Provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism, and requested the Culture industry to thoroughly prepare the detailed plan and submit to Provincial People’s Committee for approval so that this scheme could be implemented within 2016.
After holding the Sunflower Festival, the culture industry would continue to build a long-term tourism scheme with high feasibility for the period 2017-2020. Nghia Dan district needed to create some models of economy development in order for tourists to have more options to visit. The meeting also emphasized the importance of socialization to the success of tourism activities like the Sunflower Festival.
The schemes discussed in this regular meeting were subjected to approval in next meeting of the Provincial People’s Council.
